What is the most memorable or rewarding moment of your mining career?
When I worked for Arch Coal. We went 565 days with no lost-time injuries.
What's one thing you've learned on the job that has nothing to do with mining?
The importance of safety.
If you could trade places with anyone in the mining industry for a day, who would it be? Why?
My foreman — so I can tell him what to do for the day.
What's the most surprising thing you've ever found underground or at the mine site?
A snake underground. Most have come in on the supply cars — little freaky.
What's your favorite thing to do on your days off to relax and recharge?
Spend time with my wife and our grandchildren every chance I get. Camping, hunting, fishing.
