This week's safety share is on Stored Energy, and we are surrounded by it from the moment we start our shift to the end of our shift. I think the most important aspect of stored energy is being able to identify the hazard.
Unfortunately, you will not always be able to Lock Out - Tag Out - Try out. For example, when I first got into the business, we were spraying shotcrete and cleaning out the hose when the nozzleman felt the line plug. He took one hand off the hose to call out on the radio when the line let loose and took all skin off the right side of his face. He was ok after a week or two but this could have been avoided by clamping the hose down for clean out.
The main thing to take away from this is to take time to set up your operation so you don't have things like this happen. Happy New Year and Stay Safe Friends!!
