What led you to mining?
My grandpa was an underground coal miner, and so was my daddy, so it’s a family tradition!!!

What do you find most rewarding about your job as a miner?
Being able to provide for my family.

What are some of the challenges you face regularly in your work, and how do you address them?
Being away from my family without being able to communicate with them day in and day out.  I trust in the lord that he watches over them while I’m away!

Are there any particular skills, qualifications or advice that are essential for someone interested in becoming a miner?
Hard work, eagerness to learn

How do you see the future of mining evolving, and what opportunities or challenges do you anticipate?
I see mining becoming more safety oriented, as we are advancing in technology and focusing more on the miner and not just what they are mining.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
Hunt deer and turkey, spend time with my family, enjoy my life!!
